Broken Links – How to find them and fix them easily

When your website is new it is easy to keep track of all your links and make sure they are working. However, as your business grows so does your website. You have more pages, more free offers, and more things you want to share with your readers. Over time, pages get moved, renamed, changed and you will end up with Broken Links!

Then your reader gets the dreaded…

404 Error – Page not found

Yikes!

None of us want to disappoint our readers or not deliver what we promised. But broken links can cause this to happen without even realizing it.

Finding and fixing these links can be a REAL pain if you are doing it manually. It means periodically going through your entire website, page by page and clicking on every link one at a time to make sure it is still good. This is a HUGE time waster. Not to mention, very tedious and boring.

So what do you do?

If you have a WordPress website and theme, there is an easy fix. Download a plugin to help you find the broken links and fix them. This is the plugin I use and it works great!

Broken Link Checker Plugin

The first time I checked my site I discovered I had over 50 broken links. OUCH!  Almost all of them were from old blog posts that linked to other websites that no longer existed or had moved.

What I love about this plugin is that it makes fixing the links very easy. You can remove the link or replace the link right from the list of broken links that it finds.

To help download the free plugin and get your links fixed I created a step by step tutorial for you. No opt-in required.

Let me know how you make out!
